hello internet

blog,printmaking — May @ September 6, 2007, 11:03 pm

Finally just got internet access in my apartment again. I am definitly behind on One-a-day and I don’t think I can make it up. I’m no longer taking Digital Photo (ended up being more rudimentary than I had imagined) and I can’t get myself to carry my camera with me at all times, nor can I even get myself to pull it out and shoot when I find something interesting. In terms of my Baltimore lifestyle, constant photographing doesn’t seem to fit in. For shame.

Anyway, I took some progress pictures of my first assignment for Intaglio/Relief. It’s a repetition print using individual “blocks” (made out of a rubber stencil material adhered to a backer) to almost create a pattern.

The printing was kind of awful. I kept getting smears of ink on the edges of the blocks (which I cut down to a smaller size, hoping to prevent that…) and I couldn’t erase it away because the paper I was using (Mulberry) was too thin. However, I’m happy with the results as this is my first relief print.
