trying not to hurt myself anymore

One-a-day, blog, printmaking — May @ September 12, 2007, 11:36 am

My right hand occassionally engages in battle with the left. And by that I mean, being right handed has directly led to a lot of left hand injuries. I’ve cut my left hand with a rotary cutter, a large kitchen knife, and the incident to end all incidents – pieces of a porcelain bowl that broke in the sink while I was trying to do dishes. Last night, I added the newest scar to my hand, a little u-shaped slice from a linoleum cutter. Let’s just say I was being impatient and I got what I deserved.

oops.
the cut, in a badly taken macro photo.

a light sketch
A light sketch of what I plan to print.

finished cutting the first layer
Finished with cutting the first layer. Can’t see the details very well, I wish I had gotten a picture of it all inked up, but I was too concerned with getting it done quickly (see, impatience).

starting second layer
I’ve already started cutting the second layer. The first layer is a dark mustard-y color, even though it rolled up yellow ochre. I wanted the ochre, but oh well. There’s nothing I can do at this point.

I’ve got to print out some mock-ups for graphic design today and finish cutting the second layer of this print. More later!
