somehow this always happens to me

I made it back to Baltimore very early Tuesday morning (3am) after spending a whopping ELEVEN hours at the Chicago O’Hare airport. One of the most exhausting and frustrating moments in my life, and all I could think about is the phrase “If you lived here, you’d be home now.” Don’t ask, I don’t even know.

Anyway, I finished my first week of classes. Advanced Graphic Design II on Wednesday nights, Lithography independent on Thursdays, Screenprinting independent on Fridays. I have yet to go to my Senior Seminar class (Monday nights) or meet for my Independent Study/Thesis (sometime on Tuesday). I’m beginning to worry about my work load this semester even though I’ve only been to half of my classes. I mean, I don’t have any academics and it’s not hard for me to stay motivated for my studio classes, but I’m wondering if I’m going to have enough time to actually finish all that I want to finish. I’m feeling even more pressure because it’s my last semester and (probably) my last chance to use these resources.

Work load aside, I’m really excited about litho and screenprinting because the work that I’m doing for both of the classes is a refinement / progression from the work I did last year. It’s all meant to be one body of work, explored in different ways. I’m even excited about my design classes because I finally feel like assignments are more realistic/challenging. Our first assignment in Adv. GD II is a team assignment where we are branding an organic local market. The project has multiple elements and will last six weeks. The team thing throws me for a loop because we’ve rarely done it at MICA, but I feel like it’s going to be a lot better than if we just worked on our own. My Ind. Study / Thesis should be great because I’m getting the chance to focus on what I want to do for a semester. One of my posters is for Momentum Tulsa and I just got asked if I’d do the printed promotional items (flyer, tickets, signage, ads) as well. I’m definitely excited.

Considering that it’s 2.30 in the morning and I have grocery shopping to do in the morning, I should head to bed.
